Longest Rider Winner

Do anyone know who was the longest and oldest rider winner was?

We will post all of the winners with in the next few weeks as soon as we get all of the information together as well as some attendance numbers.

security
Date Posted: August 19, 2008

I must say that the most aggrivating thing about this rally is the security officers running around on 4 wheelers or what ever else they can drag up to ride and force their way around town. I had them stop in front of me more times than I can count and it was only to talk to some person on the street. Can't you post security in locations around the event and be just as affective. I know so!!! Remember people, this is a motorcycle rally, its put on for those who ride, If it continues as is , I'm sure we will continue to see a decline in attendance

Had a blast!!
Date Posted: August 19, 2008

Another wonderful time in Sturgis.
I agree with KB though, that the missing vendors hurt. I personally know of two that I was looking for... my parts people weren't there, so I didn't get to buy the only two things I wanted.
Weather was great... just about froze at night with our fans. LOL Merle Haggard was awesome. Couldn't have been a better replacement for Terri Clark.
I'll be anxiously looking for next year's dates as well...to make it number 6 for us.

2008 Rally
Date Posted: August 19, 2008

Rally not what is has been in the past. TOO much trouble for bike riders to get in and out. Rally focused more now on money for the city - not just for bikers who also pay a whooping dollar to be tere.

The rally is not focused on money for the town but for the charities and to pay for the rally itself.

Forgot one thing
Date Posted: August 19, 2008

The only thing I was disappointed in was the Dice Run ride. It was not a pretty ride at all. I would rather run the same old route, to not have to look at some of the scenery we had this year. We were happy that somone in our group won first place though.
Thanks guys.

Good job.
Date Posted: August 18, 2008

This was my first year back to the rally. Lots better than in 06. It was a blast. I would like to see the car and truck traffic either stopped or at least restricted some if that is even possible but really great job by all that made this possible.

Great Rally
Date Posted: August 18, 2008

2 Things -
1. Please tell the City of Starkville, that this was THE BEST the city cops and campus police have ever done blocking traffic for the dinner ride..Please tell them how much they are appreciated for this..Past few years have been terrible riding through Starkville on the dinner ride

2. Please don't let the new mayor in town destroy this rally...you could really see a difference this year with everything, entertainment, security, and vendors, all due to the new mayor not wanting this rally to happen. Please work this out, for better turnouts in the future...

2008 Rally
Date Posted: August 18, 2008

Rally was great but you could really tell that the attendance was down. The weather could not have been any better. This was not the year to cut the entertainment budget and raise vendor fees - there were alot less vendors which hurts a rally.

opening the park
Date Posted: August 11, 2008

where are we suppose to setup for Friday evening???? There is a concert and I am paying for the weekend. In the past we have been able to come in on Friday morning and setup. When do we register fcr the rally on Friday or Saturday. I know its hard to be alone doing things but you are going to have a big mess on your hands and I believe this will discourage people coming to the rally. Especially those that don't think to check the website

The Park is open to set up camping right now and will be open until the rally is over. You can register at the rally starting at 8am on Friday morning.

Can we have some sort of Schedule
Date Posted: August 06, 2008

I realize that there are things you are waiting on, but it sure would be nice to have some sort of idea as to the goings on of the rally seeing as how it is NEXT WEEK. Could we at least see a partial schedule posted.

Schedule posted

set up
Date Posted: August 05, 2008

why must we wait until 10:00 on saturday morning to enter the park for set up. there would be less congestion if they would open the gates early. the ones getting there at nine and ten would be able to drive on in instead of parking on the road. that way we could get all the tents set up before it gets too hot.

I understand your point, but this is the time scheduled and we the rally staff have things to do to get ready. Can you imagine what kind of problems we would have if the gates were just left open and let people come in when ever they wanted to. I am the one who has to open the gates and I have to work on Friday and need to get things ready on Saturday morning. Remember we only have a few volunteers to help with this rally so we have to have a schedule to go by.

Move the date!
Date Posted: August 05, 2008

I love attending this rally and finally last year I actually had a bike to ride to it! If you want this event to really get bigger then I suggest moving it to a different date. August in MS is very hot! Why not move it to Sept or maybe May, or June?

We know that August is hot in MS and the rally Board has looked at a few different options in reguards to moving the rally time. However to move the rally later in the year presents many problems with School and the football schedule. This area is close to a major university and the football schedule is a big problem in this area starting the last weekend in August. Also in order to move the rally to an earlier date, we would have to start planning the rally before we have the rally scheduled for August. It takes a lot of hard work and planning on the part of the rally board and to work a date in to an earlier spot might conflict with other events thru-out the south east. But we are looking at possibilities.

we have been debating on coming this year, so hot and the gas is too high trying to run the generators to keep cool, got to have the fans outside blowing at the least. when the post came out that terri clark canceled and merle was coming, i was over run with everyone hollering to go. looks like our crowd will be bigger than ever. too bad there are hateful people out there and we only have one bus going. just over a week until set-up. every thing is loaded and ready. i hope every one can keep cool and safe. be seeing every one there.

Lost Camera Found
Date Posted: August 25, 2007

Hi everyone,

I had reported a lost Sony camera, but later found out it wasn't lost at all. My daughter borrowed it to look at the pictures, and forgot to return it. Oops! I will try to send some pictures too. We loved the rally, our first one, and enjoyed every one of our 1113 miles on our bike. The ride on the Trace was hot and beautiful, the people of Sturgis and visitors were super friendly. We loved shopping the vendors, and eating the great food...The concerts each night were great. The traffic was slow, but not as bad as downtown Daytona on Saturday night of Bike Week. Hope to see everyone again next year..

get it together
Date Posted: August 22, 2007

this is my 6th year coming to the ralley. when is your committe going to get some advice from the peoplr who attend other rallies. again there is to much 4 wheel traffic. i also noticed the lack of vendors from previous years. not surprising considering that your property owners charge an arm and a leg to set up on their property, plus the town fees. if they want to get rich, go get a better job and stop raping the vendors. also again not enough to maintain peoples attention, have you ever thought of a miss sturgis, bikini bike wash, go to other ralleys and get an idea.

2007 Rally Vehicle Traffic
Date Posted: August 21, 2007

This was our 2nd Sturgis Rally, we had a great time again this year. What made it better was that my son brought his bike and rode with us. I will have to agree with some of the other Rally goers, something really needs to be done about the 4-wheel traffic. Too many 18 wheelers and other non rally traffic moving through Sturgis, on Friday and Saturday night I saw this one kid in a pickup pas by at least 5 times, and would have probably passed by more, had not the other cars and trucks had traffic backed up.It was apparent that the people of Sturgis really enjoy having the Rally in town just by the turn out on Friday nite to watch the dinner cruise. Maybe the town officials and rally organizers can come up with a plan that will better work next year.See ya then.

Growing
Date Posted: August 19, 2007

This is my second year of attending the rally, and I can see the difference in bikes and people that were there. I got to Sturgis the sane time this year as last year and had to park much further from the center of town, which is GREAT. I'm glad to see it growing, but you can't walk and look around for trying to find a place to put your feet. The vendors are too close to the street. By the time you park bikes out of the street, put a vendor behind the curb, there's no place to walk. People are all over customers trying to shop or worse FALLING ALL OVER SOMEBODY'S BIKE!!! Oh well, still enjoyed it, knew it would be hot, carries plenty to drink, made it fine. See ya next year.
