Registration question
Date Posted: May 28, 2009

My family are not bikers, but we would love to come watch the concert on Saturday night. Would we still have to pay the $35 registration fee for one night, or is there a smaller fee to pay?

The registration fee is per person for the week end and all concerts and events. Kids 12 and under are free with registered adult.

getting revved up for 2009
Date Posted: May 11, 2009

I want to thank the people who work hard putting the rallies together. The time and work you do for us to just enjoy our selves is appreciated. We have been camping in the park for too many years to count. our group grows more every year because we can't stop talking about the rally when we get back. The 2008 rally was the very best of them all. The entertainment, the vendors, and the people were all great. We hated to see it end. Thank you Sturgis for having us.

Registration fee
Date Posted: March 19, 2009

Marina, There is one thing the registration does not cover...the Poker run/dice run. The rally is WELL worth your 35.00. You'd pay that ( more actually) for just one concert at an arena somewhere. Granted you'd have air conditioning there, but.... I don't think you'll be disappointed.

WORST PLACE TO STAYThe rally needs to take it off their list of accomodations.
Date Posted: March 04, 2009

Last year we made the mistake of staying at the ??????? Room was filty, holes in walls, we slept on top of the covers and still itched all night. Sink, toilet & tub all had rust stains and the sink and tub were also covered in soap scum. Plus the shower didn't work, so we couldn't even clean up. Motel manager wouldn't give us a refund either. Complaining to the Mayor & Health Dept. did no good.

We are truely sorry about your, should we say lack of civilization, but the only way we have to find out about these things are through your reports. And we thank you for your support of our Rally. So with your report, it is taken care of.

BEST HOTEL IN STARKVILLE
Date Posted: February 09, 2009

For anyone who wants to stay in a hotel in Starkville, Holiday Inn Express is the best by far. Their number is 662-324-0076. It's $99.00 night and you get a HOT BREAKFAST EVERY MORNING. The hotel is very clean and staff are wonderful. They sure like bikers (any kind) no matter what you ride.

HMMMM
Date Posted: September 08, 2008

Well, as I have said before , I had a good time this year, though the smaller number of vendors was disappointing. However...my husband...who is not a country music fan...said he didn't enjoy it much this year. He made the comment that we should maybe try a different rally next year. I explained to him that I thought his disappointment was simply because his music preference is more geared to Rock, and maybe the vendor thing would be better again next year. I hope he doesn't make me miss the one place I want to go next year. Maybe more variety in the music might help bring some of the people back, who didn't make it this year. Just a thought.

Security and Traffic...!
Date Posted: September 05, 2008

Not much one can do about traffic on main st. and i would say 75-80% of the traffic are motorcycles and thats a good thing,i didnt see the traffic as a problem at all.As for security i say..."THUMBS UP"....for a great job,i have a hard time believing folks are crying about traffic and security but the ones doing so are a very small group.I say keep doing what you are doing, this isa great bike fest!!

Security...
Date Posted: September 01, 2008

Gripe all you want about security. The first time you needed them, and they couldn't get to you because they were in patrol cars, guess who would be griping. Get a grip. They did a great job!

Great Rally but.....
Date Posted: August 29, 2008

The rally was a great time again this year. This was my 7th year attending. I was disappointed that there were not many vendors as has been in the past. Also, is there anyway the traffic can be put to a minimum on main street? Especially the teenagers riding back and forth all through the rally? They have no respect for us bikers. Parking and pulling the bike out on the street was almost impossible for all the cars coming through. Can there not be an alternate route for through traffic??? This would be safer for the bikers after all it is a bike rally...

I AGREE
Date Posted: August 25, 2008

Im with Electra 48 and anyone else who thinks "security" is out of control.I can deal with a logging truck,it has brake lights ,and alot of the golf carts, dunebuggys or 4-wheeler dont.Put "security" in lifeguard like stands all around town. You say it may be too hot.Try setting in traffic with your helment on and both feet on the ground in 100+ degree weather, meanwhile "security" blast pass you on an atv with nothing but a basebll cap on .Only toooo pass them later as they are stopped shooting the breeze, in the way. Please see what can be done C-YA next year.

We will work on this. I am going to meet with the head of security and discuss this issue. We cut back on security quite a bit this year. But we still need the security to get from point A to point B quickly and to be able to escort bands and all thru the traffic. But I assure you that we are going to do all in our power to make the rally more enjoyable for all who come to this event.

Thank You Rally Board
Date Posted: August 22, 2008

I want to say, thank you to all the Rally Board Members, I know there are some of you that put tireless time and effort into this rally., and for what benefit, I don't know, other than you enjoy doing it. Your effort is very much appreciated and I hope everyone that looks at this message board understands that. I missed Scotty and Laura this year, They've always been great but the rest of you piked up the slack and did great. Just want my appreciation to be known, but please, do something about the security issue.See you next year, (I Hope)

great rally
Date Posted: August 21, 2008

great rally this year, but i have to agree with Electra48,the golf carts and 4-wheelers "security" is out of hand, had to stop for them just sitting in the street talking several times, just way to many of em runnin around.i know this has been brought up in years past, hopefully something can be done about next year.
otherwise it was a great rally

Had a blast!!
Date Posted: August 19, 2008

Another wonderful time in Sturgis.
I agree with KB though, that the missing vendors hurt. I personally know of two that I was looking for... my parts people weren't there, so I didn't get to buy the only two things I wanted.
Weather was great... just about froze at night with our fans. LOL Merle Haggard was awesome. Couldn't have been a better replacement for Terri Clark.
I'll be anxiously looking for next year's dates as well...to make it number 6 for us.

2008 Rally
Date Posted: August 19, 2008

Rally not what is has been in the past. TOO much trouble for bike riders to get in and out. Rally focused more now on money for the city - not just for bikers who also pay a whooping dollar to be tere.

The rally is not focused on money for the town but for the charities and to pay for the rally itself.

Forgot one thing
Date Posted: August 19, 2008

The only thing I was disappointed in was the Dice Run ride. It was not a pretty ride at all. I would rather run the same old route, to not have to look at some of the scenery we had this year. We were happy that somone in our group won first place though.
Thanks guys.

Good job.
Date Posted: August 18, 2008

This was my first year back to the rally. Lots better than in 06. It was a blast. I would like to see the car and truck traffic either stopped or at least restricted some if that is even possible but really great job by all that made this possible.

Great Rally
Date Posted: August 18, 2008

2 Things -
1. Please tell the City of Starkville, that this was THE BEST the city cops and campus police have ever done blocking traffic for the dinner ride..Please tell them how much they are appreciated for this..Past few years have been terrible riding through Starkville on the dinner ride

2. Please don't let the new mayor in town destroy this rally...you could really see a difference this year with everything, entertainment, security, and vendors, all due to the new mayor not wanting this rally to happen. Please work this out, for better turnouts in the future...

2008 Rally
Date Posted: August 18, 2008

Rally was great but you could really tell that the attendance was down. The weather could not have been any better. This was not the year to cut the entertainment budget and raise vendor fees - there were alot less vendors which hurts a rally.
